Train Town Kansas City would like to take this time to thank all of the visitors that have visited us during the last five years. We would also like to take this time to extend our deepest appreciation to the management of Ward Parkway Center for allowing us to share the hobby of Model Railroading with all of our visitors. The management of Ward Parkway Center helped us take our vision of providing Model Railroading to visitors and guests of this facility for what we had originally hoped would be a couple of months during the Holiday Season and allowed us to make it a five year tour.
That being said, Train Town Kansas City will be leaving Ward Parkway Center. It is not because of anything that was done wrong, but basically sheer economics. Our working agreement with the shopping center was that we could have our space essentially rent free, with the stipulation that if a paying tenant came along we would have to move to another locations. That time has come and shortly we will begin the process of moving out.
Some of you may ask, “Where will you go?” The answer at this point is, “We don’t really know, but we are looking.”
What we are looking for is a place where we can get a long term arrangement. But once again, the sticking point is cost. Train Town Kansas City is a non-profit organization. All of our members are volunteers, and even pay fees to cover our operational costs. The premise behind Train Town Kansas City is simple, provide the public with an introduction to Model Railroading and provide a location to do so.
We are organizing a GoFundMe campaign, in an effort to locate and secure a location for our future. If you are wanting to make a donation to our campaign, look for details on here on our Facebook page or on our website, www.traintown-kc.com. We’ll have the link up soon.
If you have a location that might possibly be of use to us, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our search committee will respond back to you as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, feel free to stop by and say hello, we’ll still be here on weekends for a while, and again, thank you for all of your support.
